Auto Thefts Increasing

New community events planned to promote residents’ awareness and solidarity.

Auto thefts in South Cobb rose in the first quarter of 2012. Lt. James Bullock of the South Cobb County Police Department, Precinct 2, told those attending the first PENS meeting of the year that there had been 66 vehicles stolen since the start of 2012. In January of this year, there were a total of 80 residential burglaries, 16 of which were vacant residential properties and six commercial. Metal thefts such as A/C units, copper wiring and electrical items made up a substantial percentage of the stolen goods. A slight decrease in burglaries was seen in February, with a total of 74 residential and five commercial thefts reported.
