Rep. Wilkerson Announces Re-election Campaign

The Democrat's District 38 includes portions of Austell, Mableton, Powder Springs and Smyrna.

By Rep. David Wilkerson (D-Austell) On July 20, 2010, you elected me to be your voice in the Georgia House of Representatives. I had recently finished my term as chairman of the Cobb County Democratic Party and worked with many of you during the historic election of President Barack Obama. It has been an honor to serve you for the past two years. As a legislator, I have had some tough decisions to make, which impacted the lives of Georgians. I am proud to say that your input has always guided those decisions I made and the votes I have cast. There is still work to be done at the Capitol. We continue to face tough economic times, and traditional public education is under attack. I want to be there to represent you. I have decided to seek re…

Obama Stole the 2008 Election! PRODUCED BY DEMOCRATIC PARTY MEMBERS In 2008 Senator Hillary Clinton, by all accounts, except caucuses, won the Primary Election and, therefore, should have been the 2008 Democratic Nominee. That didn't happen, due largely to illegitimate and illegal acts including recounting threats, intimidation, lies, stolen documents, falsified documents, busing in voters in …   more ›

Rep Wilkerson ran his campaign as a school choice advocate. He completed a survey of his views prior to running in which he showed total support of charter schools and school choice. After doing so, his campaign received significant support from the American Federation for Children--an nationwide organization that supports candidates who are committed to charters and school choice. He is NOT a …   more ›

Austell Representative Addresses Cobb Board of Education

Georgia State Rep. David Wilkerson (D-Austell) tells the school board his thoughts.

This is a letter that State Rep. David Wilkerson of Austell sent to the members of the Cobb County Board of Education. He has given South Cobb Patch permission to run it here. Dear Board Members,   Good evening. I have had the opportunity to interact with each of you in one way or another over the last several years.  Several months ago, I made a decision to stay out of the recent calendar issue.  However, at this point I am concerned as a parent, a taxpayer, and a legislator.  I am concerned because my children attend our Cobb schools and this continued bickering does nothing for academic achievement from what I can see.  I am concerned because the legislature has already shown a willingness to try and solve local issues when local boards…

I too am from the north so a "traditional" calendar starts the Wednesday after labor day and goes to mid june. however, I have lived through several years of the balanced calendar here and IF it indeed reduces teacher and student absenteeism, then why would that fact be ignored by school board members who ran on the traditional calendar? is it not their duty as a school board member to do …   more ›
