From a press release: State Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) will host a free conference call to give parents an opportunity to learn more about House Bill 123 – the “Parent Trigger” bill currently under consideration in the General Assembly – on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. Anyone who would like to participate in the call should send their email address and phone number to renardo@alishamorgan.com. “This could be parent engagement at its height,” said Rep. State Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan held a town hall meeting to review the 2012 state legislative session, which she called "very difficult."
In her 10 years in public office, State Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) told constituents Wednesday that "I really want to forget" the recently-concluded 2012 state legislative session. She asked those in attendance at her Wednesday town hall meeting to visit www.legis.ga.gov to get the latest updates on legislation from the session. The meeting had about 25 residents in attendance and was held at the South Cobb Recreation Center in Austell. A legislative update from Rep. Morgan is also available through her office. Morgan praised the passage of the HB 1176 Criminal Justice Reform Bill because "all three branches of state government came together to get it accomplished." Rep. Alisha Morgan is hosting a town hall meeting with Georgia Charter Schools Association President Tony Roberts about charter schools and H.R. 1162.
State Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) will hold a town hall meeting Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at the South Cobb Recreation Center. During this meeting, Morgan will provide an overview of the bills passed during the General Assembly’s recent legislative session and lead a discussion on charter schools. Georgia Charter Schools Association President Tony Roberts will help lead the charter school discussion, explaining what charter schools are and how they can serve as a public school option for parents. The charter school discussion will also include information about House Resolution 1162, a constitutional amendment that Morgan co-sponsored that would allow the state to authorize charter schools.
