Illegal Immigrants Under 30 Apply by Thousands for Work Permits

Several young undocumented residents of Mableton and Austell gathered their documents and forms to apply for a special work permit that would prevent them from being deported.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants under the age of 31 in Georgia, including Mableton and Austell, are gathering any visas, passports or other identification they have because the Department of Homeland Security is now accepting applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a type of work permit which would prevent them from being deported.   President Barack Obama issued the executive order in June, and it could potentially help an estimated 1 million undocumented young people who would have been eligible for the failed Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, according to Huffington Post. Mableton Illegal Immigrants Return From DC after Supreme Court Ruling

After the Supreme Court struck down three of the four main provisions of Arizona's SB1070 immigration law, Mableton undocumented residents speak out about the decision.

Monday’s Supreme Court ruling to strike down the bulk of Arizona’s controversial 2010 immigration law came one day before the National DREAM Graduation, where some 500 recently graduated undocumented students from across the country descended on Washington, D. C. to develop action plans for their uncertain futures.
