The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New York state will soon receive a fire truck donated Wednesday by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

A former Cobb County fire truck will have a new home in New York later this month. Officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services held Wednesday morning a ceremony that saw the department donating a surplus fire engine—a 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it—to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. Members of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, visited the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., site in Marietta on Monday to pick up two pallets of toys to deliver to children impacted by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. The toys were loaded into the Blue Angels’ C-130 Hercules cargo plane (known as “Fat Albert”) that was built in Marietta and delivered to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. The Blue Angels collected more than 900 toys here, which were donated by employees and Lockheed Martin.
