10 Titles for Cobb-Area Girls Track Athletes

The three-day state meet concluded Saturday in Albany.

Athletes who represented Cobb, Douglas and Paulding schools in 10 events brought back first-place medals from the Georgia High School Association girls state track and field championships in Albany.  Two teams also peformed well in the event, which ran from Thursday through Saturday, as Kell High School finished second in the Class 5A meet and Marietta came in third in Class 6A. Kell's Kendell Williams closed out her illustrious career with three titles, winning the 5A high jump, long jump and 100-meter hurdles. She earned 11 crowns in her high school career, and on Friday broke her own state record in the long jump.  Marietta's Jenessa Jackson won the Class 6A shot put and was second in the discus throw, while an all-Cobb trio swept the …

Cobb Girls Soccer Teams Advance

Harrison, Walton, Lassiter, Pope and Hillgrove were among the first-round winners Tuesday.

Some of the Cobb-based favorites in the Georgia High School Class AAAAAA girls soccer tournament easily won their first round games on Tuesday. No. 1 Harrison had the easiest time of all, thumping Valdosta 10-0. The Lady Hoyas will play at home again next week against East Coweta. Lassiter, Walton and Hillgrove also shut out their first-round opponents. The Lady Trojans got both goals from Breanne Thompson in a 2-0 win over Grayson, while the Lady Raiders downed Dacula 3-0. Fall sports will soon be kicking into high gear and Patch wants to help you share every exciting moment with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to share their team spirit on Patch.
