Chairman Tim Lee Hears Code Enforcement Concerns

South Cobb residents expressed their concerns about unanswered calls for help from Cobb's code enforcement department.

The upcoming Transportation Investment Act referendum was expectedly a hot topic at Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee’s town hall meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the South Cobb Community Center in Mableton and was the fourth in a series of town hall meetings Lee hosted around the county. Sky Rector of Vinings asked Lee how TSPLOST projects will be funded after the first 10 years. Lee explained that Project 35, a bus system that would transport commuters from the Acworth area to Atlanta’s MARTA Arts Station, would be 100 percent funded for 10 years from the one-cent transportation tax. I have to take my hat off to Code Enforcement workers. I have always had a good response from them whenever I call, which is usually 2-3 times a year. I know that they have handled things because the problem gets resolved quickly. I'm sure they could use more help.   more ›

Mableton Company Cited for Storing Garbage-Filled Trucks on Premises

Cobb County Code Enforcement cited a company near the Bankhead C & D Transfer Station for storage of garbage-filled trucks.

Due to the large number of complaints, letters and petitions from residents of the southeastern end of Veterans Memorial Highway, code enforcement staff members inspected Bankhead C & D Transfer Station Thursday, but it was a nearby trucking company that received a code violation for storing garbage on its premises. Stafford Transport trucking company was cited on Friday for parking several tractor-trailers filled with garbage on the premises without the appropriate county-issued special land use permit. The citation comes after a Thursday visit to Cobb County Code Enforcement staff members to Bankhead C & D Transfer Station. Thank you for this article. I live very close to both The Bankhead Transfer Station and the Stafford trucking company. The stitch is downright horrid. There have been two separate occasions where a member of my family has smelled the stench. My four year old was reluctant to go outside and play in our own back yard because the smell was so strong!
