Curtis Ash, age 80, was born to Eddie Ash and Beulah Alford Ash in Iron City, GA. He departed this life on April 27, 2012. He was known by several names including Curt, Ash, Reverend, Uncle, Daddy, and Daddy Ash. Some of his passions were: playing the piano, playing tennis, and jogging. In 1960, Ash married Emily Williams. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in December 2011. They had three children: Antwon (who preceded him in death), Kay, and Curwin and two goddaughters: Runette (who preceded him in death) and Kara. First Lt. Jonathan Walsh of Kennesaw was killed by an improvised explosive device while serving in Afghanistan.
The body of a Kennesaw soldier killed in Afghanistan by a blast from an improvised explosive device will be escorted by law enforcement today following the arrival of his remains at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta. First Lt. Jonathan Walsh, a 28-year-old paratrooper, died April 22 while serving in Ghazni province. The motorcade is expected to depart Dobbins between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and will travel north along Atlanta Road, turn right onto South Cobb Drive, enter onto Cobb Parkway, turn right onto Blue Springs Road in Acworth, right onto Old Highway 41, left onto McCollum Parkway in Kennesaw, left on Frey Road, right onto Shiloh Road, left onto Sandy Plains Road, right onto Highway 92, and then left on Mansell Road to arrive at the …

Margie Foss, age 93 of Mableton, passed away April 30. She was a member of Leland United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, painting, and cooking. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ted Foss and son, Ed Foss. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Paul & Berna Foss of Mableton, John & Sharon Foss of Pittsboro, NC, and Peggy Foss of Austell; grandchildren: Eric Foss, Amanda Foss and Wendy Foss; and special friend, Tiffany Read of Smyrna. Linda Grace Snell Sells, age 68, of Villa Rica, formerly of Mableton, passed away on Friday, April 27 at Wellstar Community Hospice in Austell. She was born to John Victor Snell and Julia Velera Cochran Snell on November 3, 1943 in Atlanta. After high school, she married the love of her life, Leon Edward Sells. They had two beautiful children, Donna and Connie. She was a beloved member of Concord Baptist Church for many years. She retired in 2006 from Resurgens Orthopaedics after 23 years of dedicated service. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Snell. Eddie Palmer Cato, age 74 of Austell, died April 18, 2012. He was an Air Force veteran, member of Bethel Baptist Church, Latham Lodge #12, Sweetwater Shrine Club, Yaarab Temple in Atlanta, and had retired as ranger at the Girl Scout Timberridge Camp. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Edie Lynn Cato. Lera V. Goggans Robertson, age 92 of Austell, passed away on Friday, April 20, at Powder Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born to Joseph and Mary Goggans on December 18, 1919 in Grove Oak, AL. She was married to her husband, Ruford Robertson. They had three children, Gerald, Sandy, and Gwen. Robertson was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and gardening and was a member of the Friendship Club in Mableton. She retired from Kroger after 11 years of dedicated service as a NCR Operator in 1964. She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1977 and her parents. She graduated from Western Reserve College, and was a teacher for over 40 years. Sarah Irene (Dutton) Buice, aged 81 of Mableton, passed away on Friday, March 23. She was born June 27, 1930 in Lawrenceville to the late Joseph J. and Romie Moon Dutton. She married her childhood sweetheart, Louis James Buice, on July 11, 1945 and raised two children in their 56 years of marriage. She was a member of Brownwood Baptist Church. During her career she worked for Sears Roebuck, Elson's Book Store, Pace's Bakery, Revco Drugs, and Sam's Wholesale. Before succumbing to health problems, Irene delighted in her church activities, baking and cake decorating, and talking on the phone. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.J.
