You can also adopt some pets at a discounted rate.

South Cobb residents and anyone else can help the Cobb Animal Shelter win $1,000 by voting for a finalist photo in the ASPCA Challenge photo contest. The top 15 photo winners will win $1,000 for their shelters.

You can vote by visiting aspca.org/100kphoto and voting for the photo titled "Rebecca, Jamey and Gerald" from Marietta. The cat, Gerald, was adopted at Cobb Animal Shelter's adoption event on Aug. 6 and has been a great addition to the family. The deadline to vote is midnight, Friday, Nov. 11.

Chandler:Β "Chandler is a big love! He has no problem showing affection. This poor guy has been waiting for a home for a long time. Chandler would be great with kids and/or anybody that wants a lap cat. Come visit him today!"

Pearl: "Pearl is a gentle, submissive girl who loves to play. She knows how to sit and shake. Her small size and big heart makes Pearl great with children. She loves to show her happy personality off with a wagging nub of a tail. Her low cropped ears and brindle coat makes Pearl stick out from the crowd, too. Come visit her today!"

The $80 adoption fee includes:

  • Spaying/neutering
  • All vaccinations, including rabies
  • Deworming
  • Heartworm testing
  • Feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus testing for cats
  • A microchip

If you wish to adopt either of these lovable pets, call 770-499-4136 or visit the shelter at 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, it is open from 2 to 5 p.m.
