Volunteer at Historic Mableton Cemetery

Give back to the South Cobb community as a volunteer to maintain this historic site in Mableton.

The River Line Historic Area group has adopted the Turner Sewell Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Highway, just east of Oakdale Road.Β  A limited number of adults are needed to cut ivy and overgrown vegetation in this historic neighborhood cemetery.

The cemetery contains the graves of Daniel and John Turner, as well as other family members.Β  Daniel Turner owned 740 acres along the Chattahoochee River and operated the Mayson-Turner ferry across the Chattahoochee at today's Veteran's Memorial Highway.

Recently, the cemetery was visited by a direct descendent of the Turner family who lives in Snellville.Β  He expressed his appreciation for the work by the community and commented on how difficult it is for far-flung family members to maintain family grave sites.
