MIC Seeks Board Nominations

Nominations are due Feb. 20.

The Mableton Improvement Coalition's Board of Directors is now seeking self-nominations from interested individuals for seats on the MIC Board for two-year terms beginning in March. Several seats are open this year, and  new Board members with new ideas and perspectives are welcomed.

The MIC Board of Directors has up to 11 members, all of whom seek to ensure that the organization maintain its mission of promoting intelligent planning for quality growth and conservation. Board members are not compensated financially for their MIC service; they are all volunteers. The Board is responsible for overseeing MIC operations, finances, approving zoning positions, appointing officers, modifying by-laws, and listening to the community as we formulate policies and projects.

What does it take to be a MIC Board Member? It's simple: be a MIC member and live in 30126, attend monthly Board meetings (usually held at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month), be willing to head up a committee or a project, represent MIC at stakeholder meetings and have a passion for making Mableton an even better place to live, work and play. Candidates for the Board must submit their own nominations online by Feb. 20. All nominations will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee, and a slate of recommendations will be presented to the MIC membership for their vote at the Annual Community Meeting on March 13.

MIC welcomes all who are interested in using their passion and skills to serve the community on the Board.  They especially need Board members with skills in land use and zoning, social media, website content, membership recruitment, economic development and marketing. They always welcome Mabletonians with enthusiasm for a project that improves our community.
