Overall, about 32 volunteers are needed to serve in various capacities that will make this year's Mableton Day even bigger and better than ever before. Volunteers will help manage the Mableton 5K Race, help vendors set up their booths and tables, help with administrative tasks and secure the premises. Plus, any organizations that recruit the most volunteers can earn points for a grand prize grant of $1,000.

Eligible not-for-profit organizations will have the opportunity to compete for two grants which will be awarded on the basis of a point system.  First place winners receive a grant of $1,000 and second place grant-winners receive $500.  Points can be earned as a result of registering attendees, race participation, volunteering to help run activities of the day and arranging sponsor support.  Check the website at www.mabletonday.com for more details about participation and how to earn points.

McRae hopes the grant funds can help local nonprofit organizations reach goals and meet needs of the Mableton community.

"Nonprofits, come get this grant money," said McRae.
