Foster Home Needed for Senior Dogs

Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb County (FOSACobb) has an out-of-state rescue commitment for two small, senior dogs. FOSACobb is in desperate need for a foster home that can keep the pair for at least 8 weeks. The little white dog is blind. The black dog is quite a snuggler.

The dogs’ are estimated to be 8-10 years old. Both dogs are altered and heartworm negative.

If you can help, please contact Peggy Minchew.

MARS in MN has agreed to take Chloe and her brother Malekye, but FOSACobb needs a temporary foster home for both. The foster home is needed for 2-3 weeks until their transport, which is targeted for March 3. If you can give them a place to stay, please contact Meg for a foster application.

If you can't foster, consider making a tax-deductible donation toward their boarding fees. Please email Janice Riccio if you do make a donation so that she can record your name to crosscheck with the receiving rescue group.

Animal Transport to MARS March 3

Northeast Cobb Patch wrote about the fundraiser and ten shelter dogs transported in December to the Midwest Animal Rescue and Services (MARS) facility in Minnesota. Another group of dogs and cats will be transported to MARS on March 3. FOSACobb needs help to get each animal a bus ticket. $1300 is needed to transport the animals.

If you can help, please donate. No donation is too small. Email Janice Riccio if you do make a donation so that she can record your name to crosscheck with the receiving rescue group.

The successful transports to date have saved the lives of 50 cats and dogs.

Temporary foster homes for 2 weeks are also needed to help the animals’ transition out of the shelter into households. If you can give them a place to stay, please contact Meg for a foster application.

Chinese-Imported Chicken Jerky Treats

Meg Bugua's dog and foster dog became sick after eating Chinese-imported chicken jerky treats. The dogs recovered. She reported it to the FDA. The FDA told her that every time they inspect the China manufacturer, nothing is found and so nothing can be done. She urges pet owners to read more about the issue at www.truthaboutpetfood.com.
