Dog Days at the Market Boasts Family- and Dog-Friendly Events May 12

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us, and that's a good thing for everyone in the family. It means that South Cobbers will have a new local market and our furry four-legged friends will have a new place to hang out in South Cobb starting next week.

Riverview Landing, an 82-acre complex on River View Road in Mableton, hosts a spring festival called Dog Days at the Market on May 12 to kickoff the grand opening of The Market. Plants, seedlings and local, organic produce is available for purchase at the Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from May 12 to June 30.

The Dog Days spring festival kickoff on May 12 will feature more than 40 vendors selling pet-friendly organic crafts, games and other items. Dogs will be able to roam in Georgia's newest dog pasture, a five-acre fenced-in area along the Chattahoochee River. The day's proceeds benefit Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption.

The festival will also include the first of free, educational seminars on eating and living well, gardening and green techniques. Additionally, the festival will feature food trucks, Sweetwater beer, live Americana and bluegrass music.

Bring the entire family and chill out on the swings and benches, bicycle through the area or bring the dog for various dog-friendly events like agility trials and flying disc dog tricks.

Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption will have dogs on-site and adoptions can be made at APRA’s new facility in Smyrna.

Riverview Landing is located along the Chattahoochee River at 6271 River View Road, SE, Mableton, Ga., approximately five miles west of Jamestown’s award-winning Atlanta property, White Provision, and just four miles from Buckhead. The development will include 155 single-family homes, 335 townhomes, 165 condo flats, 850 apartment units,  about 200 senior housing units, shops, commercial property and a park.
