The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program today recognized six Cobb County children who have made a positive impact in their communities through volunteerism, and one of the recipients is from Austell.

Aaliyah Rucker, 9, was among 69 people from Georgia who received a $50 gift card, a certificate and the chance to qualify for a $1,000 regional scholarship that will be awarded in July.

Other Cobb County winners included:

  • Sarah Ehorn, 18, Powder Springs;
  • Garland Jones, 17, Marietta; and
  • Rachel Carmichael, Lauren Sawyer and Kayla Wivorkoski, Acworth.
From the nearly 200 regional winners that Kohl's plans to announce in July, 10 national winners will receive $10,000 each in scholarships. Additionally, Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
