South Cobbers Awaken to Downed Trees after Storms, Flash Floods

After a couple of nights of thunderstorms, South Cobb residents are picking up the pieces.

A week after Independence Day and the night sky was lit up with flashes of light, but they weren't leftover fireworks. The intense and incredibly close lightning followed by thunder was part of a storm and flash floods that have caused major damage to all areas of Metro Atlanta, including South Cobb.

It's not over yet. Brace yourself, South Cobbers. According to the National Weather Service, Austell and Mableton will likely see showers and thunderstorms again Thursday after 3 p.m., but before 10 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, NWS predicts a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for the area, with a high near 87 degrees on both days.
