South Cobb Looking to Repeat Last Year's Success
Eagles vying for first back-to-back winning seasons since 2006
After three straight 2-8 seasons, the Eagles put it all together and made it to the playoffs last year. Many of last year's starters were seniors, so this team has a lot of new faces on it.
Junior quarterback Stephon Masha will line up behind center this year and lead the offense in the spread. Look for Masha to throw the ball a little bit more than last year's quarterback Johntavious Mullins. He has a bigger arm and isn't as quick as Mullins was.
Replacing running back Demarcus Adkins and his 1,100 yards rushing from last year is easier said than done. The Eagles will implore a running back by committee in 2011, as there hasn't been one standout running back so far this summer. Senior Chris Beck and junior Chauncey Ingram will split carries and fight it out for the starting half back position.

Beck and Ingram will also be starting in the defensive backfield. Senior linebacker Nick Hibbert is one of just three returning starters on defense and he will be looked at for leadership. Junior linebacker Graven Higgins will also play a significant role.
The team will also be led by seniors T.K. Shaw as linebacker and Carlos Anderson as wide-out and linebacker. Juniors Taylar Wilson, Niles Hamilton and Talere Taylor will be leaned on heavily as offensive and defensive linemen.

Tonight's season opener against Marietta will be challenging for the Eagles. They will also be looking to avenge last year's opening loss to the Blue Devils, 17-13. South Cobb then has four of its next six games at home, which should provide somewhat of an edge for a team that is looking to earn its second straight winning season since 2006.
