South Cobb High to Honor B-Ball Grads Old and New on Friday

South Cobb High basketball players from as far back as the 1970s will attend and be honored at Friday night's basketball game at the school.

The South Cobb Basketball Booster Club will pay tribute to several older and recent graduates of its boys and girls varsity basketball teams on Friday during halftime of the varsity boys game against North Cobb.  Former players who wore the orange, white and blue uniforms from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and current decade will be recognized and honored for their contribution and support of the program on this special alumni evening.

“As we usher in a new era for our basketball program, it’s important for the current team and our fans to acknowledge and appreciate the history of the players who achieved success at the local, regional and state level.  None of our current players have had the opportunity to play in the state tournament.  By introducing the team to the former players who reached that goal, it will only give our kids more incentive to work together to reach that goal as well.  In addition, we want the former players to see and be proud of the program that exist today,” stated new head varsity boys coach, Greg Moultrie.

South Cobb is expecting a large turnout for this event.  There will be a special section in the Eagle Nation gym for the alumni to sit and watch the games.  Everyone will be introduced and escorted onto the court, and there will a three-point shooting contest for those men and women who still feel that they can “ball.”  A reception will be held immediately following the varsity boys contest for all of the alumni in attendance.  The varsity grls game begins at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys game at 7:30 p.m.
