Runners Prepare for Silver Comet Half Marathon

Halloween costumes are welcomed at Saturday's event and there will be a half-dozen costume contest awards given.

Whether or not you actually call running “fun,” the Silver Comet Half Marathon Fun Run is destined to bring some people together and do some good this weekend, with positive vibes all around. On Saturday, you can lace up your sneakers and join the 11th Annual Silver Comet Half Marathon and Fun Run whilst helping a cause we all can appreciate.

Enjoying this gorgeous, tree-lined trail is a privilege we all share. Proceeds will benefit Cobb County Parks and Recreation and race organizers state on their website that almost "$10,000 will be donated to our local community charities and schools this year.''

Pre-registration is over, but participants may still register at www.active.com.

The Half-Marathon begins at 7:45 a.m. and the two-mile Fun Run (more fun than a half-marathon, guaranteed) starts just behind the serious athletes and concludes at Bike Depot. All races begin at the Mable House, which is located exactly a half-mile past the Kroger on Floyd Road (heading away / South from the Silver Comet Trail) – 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

Fun Run participation cost is just $4, while the Half-Marathon costs $65.
