Pebblebrook Rallies Over North Cobb in Overtime Thriller

The Pebblebrook Falcons didn't score an offensive touchdown in regulation, but still beat the North Cobb Warriors 36-34 in triple overtime.

Pebblebrook rallied late in the fourth quarter on two defensive touchdowns within one minute of play to overcome a 14-point deficit and send the game to overtime.Β  In overtime, the Pebblebrook Falcons finally prevailed on a pass to the end zone for a 2-point conversion in the third overtime period, 36-34.

The Warriors of seemed to have the game in hand as they held onto their 14-0 halftime lead over the Falcons and held Pebblebrook's offense to only two field goal attemptsΒ during four quarters of play.Β 

Unfortunately for the Warrior faithful on their homecoming night, the Falcons recovered a fumble on a first and goal at their own 10 and ran it back 90 yards for their first touchdown of the night with just over five minutes left in the game.Β

The ensuing kickoff was nothing short of spectacular as it bounced out of bounds inside the Warrior 1-yard line.Β  A few plays later, quarterback Tyler Queen fumbled the ball in his own end zone during a scramble and it was recovered by linebacker Tyberius Cravens for the tying touchdown with only 4:18 left in the game.

During the first two overtime periods, both teams scored touchdowns and extra points.Β  In the third overtime, however, North Cobb scored a touchdown first - missing the mandatory 2-point conversion attempt asΒ Queen's pass was picked off at the goalline.Β  Pebblebrook answered with a touchdown of its own and took the win with a pass from CJ Goodman to Perry Seldon in the end zone.

The Pebblebrook Falcons are on a three-game winning streak and move to 3-0 in regional play (3-3 overall), while North Cobb fell to 2-1 in regional play (3-3 overall).Β  The win moves Pebblebrook into a first place tie with Hillgrove atop the Region 4-AAAAA standings.
