Wolfpack Celebrates Homecoming with Victory

Whitefield Academy began region play with a shutout win over Southwest Atlanta Christian on Friday night.

On a beautiful homecoming night Friday, the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack evened their season record at 2-2 with a 22-0 blanking of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, 0-3.

The Pack, now 1-0 in Region 5A play, were dominant defensively in limiting the Warriors to no yards passing and just 75 yards of total offense. Sophomore Lorenzo Carter led Whitefield with 6 tackles, 2 assists and 1Β½ sacks.

Senior Ryan Jones and junior Max Rieves each added 4Β½ solo stops and 3 assists.

The Wolfpack opened the scoring with a first quarter 2-yard run by Jones. Quarterback Max Kemether added the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. In the second quarter, Kemether connected on a 5-yard scoring pass to John Alar. Thomas East booted the extra point for a 15-0 Whitefield lead at the break.

The home team closed out the scoring in the third quarter as Kemether hit Jones for another touchdown pass as East added the extra point.

Kemether was 9 of 17 passing for 61 yards, two scores and no interceptions. The Pack, who amassed 200 yards of total offense, were led on the ground by junior Richard Sherrell, who rushed 21 times for 110 yards. Sophomore Khlen Pinkett added 69 yards rushing on 13 carries.

Whitefield, which equaled its 2010 win total with the victory, plays at Landmark Christian next week.
