Roundup of recent Cobb County School District happenings

  • Four of the 14 grant winners of the 2011 Cobb Schools Foundation’s Teacher IMPACT Grants! Were from South Cobb area schools.

The foundation received a record of 117 applications from teachers, administrators and specialists from across the school district. The 14 grants total $20,000 in cash and gifts for Cobb County educators and their students.

The four South Cobb grant winners are:

  • Lisa Collins, “Guitar Heroes in the Art Room”
  • Shawn Hadley, , “Boys-Honor Youth Program of Excellence”
  • Lisa Gipson, , “Money Matters”
  • Amy Johnson, , “Articulating Foundational Math Concepts Through Animation”

  • was one of seven Cobb County schools awarded a grant from the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association to support the national Fuel Up To Play 60 initiative, which encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes a day and eat nutrient-rich foods.
  • At the Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd annual “Give Our Teachers a Hand” breakfast and pep rally on Oct. 25, several teachers were recognized and the performed several selections from “The Heat Is On.”
