South Cobb Patch Weekly Sports Recap

Whitefield's boys tennis team advances to 2nd round of the State Finals, South Cobb's baseball team goes 2-1

The Whitefield Academy boys' tennis team won their first-round state tournament match against Atlanta International, 3-0 last week. The Wolfpack host Athens Academy in second-round action, today at 4 p.m. The girls' team lost in the first round against Wesleyan 3-0. The Lady Wolfpack finished the season at 7-4.

The Wolfpack baseball team went 2-0 last week, winning 11-7 versus First Presbyterian Day and defeating Paideia 6-4. The Wolfpack's next ball game is at home against Landmark Christian, Tuesday at 5 p.m. Whitefield’s current record stands at 11-11 and 7-3 in Region 9-A.

The boys' lacrosse team split a pair of games last week. The boys were blown out by Lovett 22-3, but later bounced back to beat Grady in overtime 9-8. Their next contest is at home against Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School on Thursday at 6 p.m.

baseball team (10-12, 6-5 Region 4-AAAAA) went 2-1 last week. The Eagles’ offense had a power surge as they defeated Kennesaw 9-1 and North Cobb 10-6. Their lone loss was to Hilgrove, 8-2. The Eagles play their next game on the road at Harrison, Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The girls' lacrosse team lost to Allatoona last week, 10-3.

Pebblebrook

 baseball team (2-17, 1-10 Region 4-AAAAA) won their second game of the season last weekend against Campbell, 6-2. The win followed a tough stretch of games during the week, in which they lost to North Cobb 15-0 and McEachern 8-4. The Falcons look to start their first winning streak of the year, with a home game versus Hillgrove, Tuesday at 6 p.m.
