South Cobb Patch Weekly Sports Recap

Whitefield's boys soccer team defeats another ranked opponent, South Cobb baseball goes 1-1.

Whitefield Academy

In boys’ soccer action, Whitefield Academy went 2-0 last week, defeating First Presbyterian Day and Landmark Christian Academy. The Wolfpack took care of First Presbyterian Day (ranked No. 8 in Class A) early in the week 2-0.

Whitefield easily handled Landmark Christian 4-0 later in the week.They had a match Monday at 6:30 p.m. The girls’ team went 1-1 last week, losing 0-8 versus First Presbyterian Day and defeating Landmark Christian 5-0.

In a doubleheader played on Monday, April 18 the girls blanked visiting W. D. Mohammed, 10-0. The girls also won in a rout, 7-0.

The baseball team split their outings last week, winning 10-0 against Our Lady of Mercy, and losing 9-1 versus Eagles Landmark Christian Academy. The Wolfpack's next ballgame is at home against First Presbyterian Day today at 5 p.m.

In tennis, the girls' and boys teams crusied through regionals last week. As a result, they are the host school in the first round of the state playoffs.

On Monday, April 18, the girls lost in their match versus Wesleyan, 0-3.  The boys hope to avoid the same fate when they welcome Atlanta International on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The boys' lacrosse team had another tough week of action, going 1-2. They lost earlier in the week, 16-2 versus Northgate, and 7-5 against Mount Paran. Their lone win of the week came on Saturday, when they defeated North Atlanta 14-5.  Their next contest is on the road against Lovett, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

South Cobb

 baseball team split their pair of games last week, winning 4-1 against Campbell, but lost to McEachern 16-3. The Eagles play their next game at home against Kennesaw Mountain, Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The boys' soccer team defeated McEachern 4-2 last week, while the girls' team lost a tough match to Harrison 10-0.

The girls' lacrosse team were heavily routed in their match against Harrison last week, 21-1. The Lady Eagles play their next match at home against Tri-Cities, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. 

Pebblebrook

 baseball team had another forgettable week, losing to Harrison 14-4 and 18-0 versus Kennesaw Mountain. The Falcons will make yet another attempt to win their second game of the season when they hit the road and line up against North Cobb on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
