Weigh in on Austell Road Evaluation

There are two upcoming public meetings where South Cobb residents can weigh in on Cobb County's comprehensive evaluation on Austell Road.

County staff is currently in the process of evaluating the entire Austell Road corridor from South Cobb Drive to the city limits of Austell.

The evaluation will help officials find ways to concentrate a higher intensity of development in the area surrounding Wellstar Cobb Hospital, while making more appropriate transitions in scale in other sectors of the corridor.

Officials say the process will help meet current and anticipated future market demand, as well as attracting private investments to  assist redevelopment along the corridor.

Here are the dates for upcoming public hearings for residents to get involved in the process:

• Planning Commission Public Hearing
  When: 9 a.m., Monday, July 8
  Where: BOC Room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta
• Board of Commissioners Public Hearing
  When: 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23
  Where: BOC Room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta
