Rep. Wilkerson to Hold Town Hall Monday Night, Files Complaint Against Morgan

Rep. David Wilkerson will discuss the TIA at his Monday night town hall, but constituents may ask him about a recent ethics complaint he filed against Cobb Board of Education Vice Chairman David Morgan.

Rep. David Wilkerson will hold a town hall meeting on Monday to address the upcoming Transportation Investment Act vote in July. The meeting will be held at the Ron Anderson Center in Powder Springs at 6:30 p.m.

Wilkerson, who announced recently that he is seeking reelection, also filed an ethics complaint against Cobb Board of Education Vice Chairman David Morgan on April 16. David Morgan is married to Wilkerson's democratic House of Representatives colleague, Rep. Alisha Morgan (D-Austell), and he is employed by American Federation for Children, school choice advocacy organization associated with the PAC of the same name.

Wilkerson's complaint to the state ethics commission is that David Morgan did not report the expense of a $2,500 full-page ad, which ran in the March 24 issue of the Marietta Daily Journal.

Alisha Morgan is a strong proponent of the resolution and even sponsored the bill which created the original state charter schools commission, which was ruled unconstitutional by a state Supreme Court last year.

According to the MDJ, the ad claimed "Wilkerson had turned his back on children and voted against restoring charter schools."

Wilkerson stated in his complaint that David Morgan's recent lobbyist report was filed late, resulting in another late filing penalty for him.

David Morgan said that expenditure reporting is left to the attorneys of AFC.
