Poll: Should Cobb Ban Smoking at Parks and Facilities?

Cast your vote, then tell us why you feel that way in the comments.

Cobb is deciding whether to ban smoking at all parks and recreation locations, including the Mable House property, across the county, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The push is being made by South Cobb Comissioner Woody Thompson, who said he got the idea after visiting Wellstar Cobb Hospital recently and seeing the hospital's new tobacco-free environment.

Is this a good move by the county? Vote in our poll, then tell us why or why not in the comments.

I am opposed to the new law. I am not a smoker but used to be. I think you should be able to light up at the park, outside a resturant (preferably not at the entrance)anywhere you are not encroaching on others air quality. We should preserve the rights of all people, not just those some judge as "right".

I don't smoke, I have never smoked, and I don't like being around someone who is smoking. I have been in my car behind another car where the driver is smoking. If they have their window down and have the cigarette outside the window, I can smell it. With that being said, as long as they are outside, let them smoke. Not at the Mable House though because of the close quarters. People who smoke know the dangers and if they choose to smoke anyway, let them.

I am a smoker of 22 years and I hate it more than anything when I take my 2 year old to the park and there are cigarette butts all over the place. If you want to smoke don't do it where people go to enjoy a few hours out with the family. Wait until you get to the car or home.
