Mableton Elementary's Eisgruber Selected for Deal's Education Advisory Board

Mableton Elementary School Principal Kym Eisgruber has been selected to serve on Gov. Nathan Deal's newly created Education Advisory Board.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced the members of his newly created education advisory board Friday. Mableton Elementary School’s principal, Kym Eisgruber, was one of two Cobb County principals named to the board. Only 13 principals from across the state were selected to serve on Deal’s new advisory board.

Deal said he is looking forward to meeting with the members of the advisory board on a quarterly basis to learn how to “improve educational outcomes for Georgia students.”

He said in a news release that the individuals selected to serve on the panels of the board “are leaders in their fields, and they are giving of their time and talents to help our state strive for educational excellence.”

Under Eisgruber’s direction at Mableton Elementary, the school has received the Title I Distinguished School for six consecutive years, was named a Georgia School of Excellence in 2009 for greatest academic gains and also a Governor’s Office of Accountable School-wide State Assessment System 2009 Gold Award for academic gains.

Eisgruber, who has been an educator for 25 years, first began her teaching career as a first grade teacher in Washington, D.C. area for Maryland’s Montgomery County Public Schools. In her less than five years there in Maryland, she organized countywide staff development sessions, taught impoverished students in summer school and was selected as a representative for the school district to meet former President George Bush Sr.
