Don't Get Caught in Cobb Traffic

Here are construction updates for Sept. 24 through Sept. 28, from Commissioner Helen Goreham:

Barrett Parkway Construction

Northbound Barrett Parkway: Burnt Hickory Rd to US 41: Expect periodic lane closures northbound between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41).  One lane will remain open at all times as the contractor performs grading operations, wall construction, and storm drainage work. Various utility companies will be relocating services, which shouldn't affect your service. 

Southbound Barrett Parkway: Cobb Place to Burnt Hickory Road:Anticipate periodic lane closures southbound from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Cobb Place and Burnt Hickory Road with one lane remaining open at all times. 

Here are construction updates for Sept. 24 through Sept. 28, from Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

Jamerson Road/Wigley Road Construction

Canton Road to Trickum Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be installing an overhead sign near Canton Road, which may include brief lane closures on Jamerson Rd.

Trickum Road to Jims Road: No lane closures expected between Trickum Road and Jims Road. The contractor will be fine grading and grassing shoulders.

Jims Road to Sandy Plains Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wigley Road and Sandy Plains Road. One lane will remain open at all times for your commute. The contractor will be placing concrete and asphalt pavement in this area.

Here are construction updates for Sept. 24 through Sept. 28, from Commissioner Woody Thompson:

Floyd Road Construction

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be clearing and installing erosion control.  Asphalt paving and patching will continue. 

Hicks Road Sidewalks Construction

Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open. The contractor will be clearing and installing erosion control along the side of the road.

Blair Bridge Road & South Gordon Road Sidewalks Construction

Blair Bridge Road & South Gordon Road: No lane closures anticipated.  The contractor will be completing finishing touches on the project.

Six Flags Drive Sidewalk Construction Update

Crestview Drive to Interstate 20: No lane closures anticipated.  The contractor will be completing finishing touches on the project.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times, are scheduled on the following roads:  

• Brookwood Drive from East-West Connector to dead end
• Church Street from Clay Road to Veterans Memorial Highway
