Austell Gas Takes Preliminary Steps Toward New Facility

Although plans for a new facility are in the very early stages and have not yet been approved by the board of Austell Gas, the new facility could be a reality within a year.

Austell Natural Gas System may have a new facility soon.

Rob Register, the general manager of Austell Gas, said plans for building a new facility for the company are in the preliminary stages.

"We're working on some tentative drawings," Register told South Cobb Patch on Friday.

After the preliminary drawings, surveys and other aspects of the process have been completed, the plan would be considered by the Austell Gas Board, which governs the utility company, for approval, since the company is a component of the City of Austell.

"The best case scenario, you're looking at a year (before the plans are finalized)," Register said.
