Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee reviewed population maps at the state’s reapportionment office this week in an effort to get started on redrawing county commission district lines.

With South Cobb's growth–Mableton's population grew by 7,382 people from 2000 to 2010– it's likely that South Cobb's district 4 will cover a smaller area. However, the district's population will be as equal to that of the other three districts as possible.

On Aug. 15, the state Legislature will convene for a special reapportionment meeting. Just like the election ward changes of Austell, once the county commissioners approve the district changes, they will be sent for review and approval to the DOJ.
