Austell Woman Indicted for Death of KSU Student
The apparent road race incident took place in October.
An Austell woman has been indicted for the October shooting death of a Kennesaw State student in what Cobb Police have called a case of road rage.
Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds said Friday that Sparkles Lashayla Lindsey, 22, was indicted by a Cobb Grand Jury with one count of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
The indictment charges that Lindsey shot to death Kimberly Kilgore on Oct. 11, 2013 near the entrance to an apartment complex on Walton Green Way in Kennesaw.
According to Cobb Police, two female motorists got into an altercation on Shiloh Road, and the argument continued into the Shiloh Green Apartments parking lot.
Lindsey was arrested the following day and has been held without bond ever since in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Lindsey's previous criminal record includes charges for battery, violating probation, obstruction of a police officer and fighting in public.
Kilgore, a graduate of Paulding County High School, was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at KSU and worked at Collett Country Store in Powder Springs at the time of her death.
Lindsey's case has been assigned to Cobb Superior Court Judge Reuben Green.
