Woman Dies in Auto Accident on I-20

Delores Haynes, 61 of Douglasville, was pronounced dead after being transported to Grady Hospital when she lost control of her car and hit the emergency guardrail on I-20, just west of Factory Shoals Road in Austell.

Delores Haynes, 61 of Douglasville, was pronounced dead when she was transported to Grady Hospital around 2 a.m. Sunday after losing control of her car and hitting an emergency guardrail on I-20, just west of Factory Shoals Road in Austell. The Cobb County Police Department's S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is currently investigating the fatal crash.

Haynes was driving a maroon 1993 Jaguar XJ-6 westbound on I-20 and for unknown reasons lost control of her car.Β 

The car went through the emergency lane, striking a guardrail before reentering the roadway and striking the center retainer wall.

Moments later, when the car stopped on its own, Β a green Acura struck Haynes' car. Brandon Vance, 20 of Villa Rica, was driving the Acura, but did not suffer any injuries. The police do not expect to file any charges against him.
