UPDATE: Police Investigate Second South Cobb Homicide in Less Than a Week

Police discover another dead body in South Cobb–this time in a Mableton parking lot.

Update May 19 at 2:50 a.m.: Police have charged Jerry Lovings, 51 of Mableton with murder and aggravated assault with intent to murder in connection with this homicide. Detectives believe Lovings began arguing with the victim, Jonathan Brooks, 23, of Austell. The argument escalated and detectives believe Lovings then shot Brooks inside Computer Repair of the Reagan Plaza.

Unlike previously reported, Brooks was not dead on the scene when police arrived. Although he had been shot several times.

He was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Cobb Police are investigating a homicide, which occurred at 780 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, the second homicide in South Cobb in less than a week.

According to the report just released by Cobb Police, officers from Zone 2 were dispatched to the Reagan Plaza. There in the parking lot, they discovered a dead man’s body, full of gunshot wounds.

At the same time the body was found, approximately a block away from the scene, officers located a man that investigators say could be linked to the shooting.

As detectives continue to investigate the homicide, police ask that anyone with information call 770-499-3945.
