Witnesses told the police about a man seen fleeing on foot from the scene. Within minutes of the shooting, the Cobb Police K-9 Unit was able to apprehend the suspect west of the townhome complex.

The victim was shot in a unit in Building B, where a woman in her early 20s resides. Officers transported that woman from the scene in a police vehicle.

Police said the victim had been shot in the head and/or face.

One resident who did not wish to be identified told Patch she was at home at the time of the shooting when the woman ran to her door.

"She said, "Please help me. They're shooting in my house!" the resident said, who added that she heard "a lot" of gunshots.

One neighbor said a man ran into her home after the shots were fired. Her brother pushed the man out and locked the door.

"I was mad about that because my granddaughter was sitting on the couch downstairs," the neighbor said. Her granddaughter is 7 years old.

Another neighbor who lives in the building across from Building B said she wasn't surprised about the incident.

"I hear gunshots all the time," she said.
