More Trouble for Austell Armed Robbery Suspect

She faces new charges.

A Douglasville woman already in custody in connection with a June 27 armed robbery at the Blair Bridge Road Budget Inn in Austell is facing new charges.

Just before the June 27 armed robbery, Austell police pulled Brittany Renee Simpkins over at Flint Hill Road and Parkside Drive, according to an arrest warrant issued this week. The driver's side headlight was out. When the officer asked for her identification, she said she did not have her license with her. She was issued two traffic citations, but allegedly affixed another person's signature to the documents, police said.

That is why Cobb authorities this week charged Simpkins with first-degree forgery, driving without a license, giving a false name and date of birth, and a headlights violation.

Simpkins and Rhonda Faye Tyler of Lithia Springs have been in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center since late June on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Tyler allegedly rented a room at the Budget Inn and lured a man to the room "with the promise of a 'party,' " according to an earlier arrest warrant.

About 3:30 a.m. June 27, Tyler left the room. That's when Simpkins and an unidentified male allegedly entered the room and overpowered the man, according to the warrant.

The unidentified male accomplice threatened to kill the man and allegedly used a handgun to strike him on the head several times, records show. Simpkins and the accomplice allegedly took the man's wallet, cell phone, car keys and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, police said.
