Cobb Police Investigating Two South Cobb Robberies This Week

Each incident happened in a local business during daylight hours.

Cobb Police are investigating two recent robberies that occurred in South Cobb this week.

According to preliminary information from Cobb police, on Thursday at 6 a.m., employees at Wendy’s at 185 South Service Road in Austell were serving customers when they saw a man armed with a handgun enter the restaurant.

The employees tried to flee out of a back door, but the armed man forced them back inside and demanded money from them.

He made one employee give him money from the restaurant’s safe.

He fled on foot towards nearby Highland Park Apartments after he took an undisclosed amount of cash and a customer’s cell phone.

On Saturday at 4 p.m., two men stole cash from Tire Tech at 5959 Mableton Parkway in Mableton, according to Cobb police.

Police investigators said a male employee was working at the tire store alone when two men pulled up to the store in a light brown Mitsubishi SUV.

The employee was answering the men’s questions when they pushed him down and tied him up in the back of the store, police stated.

The men then took cash from the victim before fleeing the scene in the SUV.

Both of the men are described as African-American. One is 5’7” and 20 to 30 years old, has a thin build and a “low” haircut, was clean-shaven and armed with a handgun.

The other man was described as 6’ tall and 20 to 30 years old, had a “heavy” build, a “low” haircut and closely trimmed beard.

The victim was injured during the incident, police reported, but is expected to survive his injuries.
