Cobb Police Crime Report for Austell, Aug. 19-25

A weekly report of crime incidents reported by the Cobb Police Department

, Detective Sgt. Jorge Mestre said the South Cobb precinct, which is the busiest in the county, has answered 9,000 service calls since January.

Mestre also showed that the residential burglary is the top theft crime affecting South Cobb. There are about with approximately 80 burglaries occurring each month, including the other area the precinct serves in Powder Springs.

Here are the crime incidents that have occurred in Austell, according to the Cobb Police Department. The incidents occurring within the Austell Police Department's jurisdiction are not included in this report.

  • Theft of other vehicles at 2210 Warren Drive

  • Burglary of nonresidence, forced entry at 2000 Clay Road

Aug. 21

  • Entering auto at 5058 Ceylon Court
  • Entering auto at 1621 Walton Reserve Blvd.
  • Robbery in the street with a gun at 351 Twin Hill Road

Correction: This article originally stated that Mestre said there were about 100 home invasions each month in the South Cobb area. That has been changed to reflect that the area, including the Powder Springs area of Precinct 2, is seeing about 80 burglaries a month.
