Austell Man Dies in One-Vehicle Crash

Investigators believe the 78-year-old man may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the fatal accident.

Cobb police investigators believe an Austell man may have experienced a medical emergency prior to a one-vehicle, fatal accident on Thursday evening in Austell.

According to Sgt. Dana Pierce, 78-year-old Paul R. Osborne was operating a 1996 Sonoma truck on Old Alabama Road shortly before 9 p.m. when for reasons unknown, he failed to maintain his lane. As the truck left the southern edge of the roadway just east of South Gordon Road, it traveled up a large mound of dirt where it overturned.

Osborne was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Cobb County Medical Office has assumed jurisdiction over the body in an attempt to determine the manner and cause of death.
