Arrests Made in Cobb Fast-Food Robberies

Police say the men, ages 20 and 17, are behind Tuesday's Zaxby's robbery on Floyd Road in Mableton and others.

Cobb County police have arrested two men on armed-robbery and other charges for their suspected involvement in and other recent crimes.

Rodney Bernard Lofton, 20, of Marietta and Deontae Lamont Conway, 17, of Dallas are being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond on charges related to the robbery on Dallas Highway, a robbery and a recent burglary on Ernest Barrett Parkway.

Lofton’s booking report at the jail lists 15 charges against him, many of them related to a police chase Friday night in Smyrna. Conway’s booking report shows three charges: two armed robberies and one burglary.

That chase started with an armed robbery and shots being fired at , according to a news release from Cobb police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman.

were called just before 11 p.m. to help the , and Officer R.C. Adair spotted the suspects driving a stolen silver 2005 Chevrolet Suburban.

Adair tried to stop the Suburban, but the vehicle raced away and soon crashed, Bowman said.

The two men who were in the Suburban tried to run away but didn’t get far, Bowman said. Lofton’s booking report indicates he was caught at 11:50 p.m.

The two are not charged in the rash of other robberies in the area, including an on Thursday.
