7-Time Tour de France Winner Stripped of His Titles - Fair or Not?

Do you agree with the USADA's decision to strip seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong of his titles and institute a lifetime ban on future competitions?

South Cobb's Silver Comet Trail is a popular spot for several cyclists from beginners to professionals.

Many of them spoke out recently about one of the world's most famous cyclists, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. He has fought years of accusations of doping, but he has finally given up the fight.

According to Reuters, on Friday the United States Anti-Doping Agency handed down a lifetime ban on Armstrong and stripped him of all his wins. Although the USADA has ruled, should the International Cycling Union challenge the ruling it is up to a Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland, to make the final decision.

Fellow competitors have leveled accusations of doping at Armstrong over the years, however he has never tested positive. Still, he said he was tired of fighting the accusations and was moving on, leaving it in the hands of the USADA. His decision to give up the fight prompted Friday's decision.

Do you think the International Cycling Union should challenge the USADA’s ban? Do you believe the seven-time Tour de France champion should lose his titles and be banned from future competiton for life?

Hundreds of official doping tests given to Lance. He passed them all. A number of jaded people make unsubstantiated accusations without any evidence to back up their accusations. He is crucified by USADA. In a court of law on the balance of probabilities the testing evidence would show him as innocent. Have the world sporting bodies thought through the future consequences of this mad witch hunt? Do we now scrap drug testing because it does not mean anything any more? Think people. This is madness.

Lance was a great cyclist before the TdF titles...he just wasn't widely known in the States b/c most Americans only know of/pay attention to that race. I don't think this really diminishes his legacy. He's always maintained his innocence, but if he was cheating, I think that speaks more to the ineptitude of the cycling governing bodies & their testing methods, & as Kevin points out he's passes hundreds of doping tests.

He is the only cyclist whose name I know. That won't change for folks like me who don't really follow the sport. I still go with innocent until proven guilty and that hasn't happened. The only argument I have with him is the fact that he dumped a long time significant other when she developed cancer. Even tackier since he's a survivor, too.

He may have or not. Forcing him to relinquish of 2 TDD titles, then expansion to all because he won't cooperate smells of a witch hunt. Am awaiting Johann Bruyneel's arbitration in October. Hearsay should be questioned. Is the physiology of a cancer survivor different? There are cheats on both sides of the sport. Testing is ripe for corruption. Some are willing to win at all cost. Is it not possible that some are willing to win by prosecution outside the law at all cost? This didn't happen overnight. I don't have to decide before the next commercial break. Will wait for a view of the evidence in October, and hope for reinstatement.

Who cares, it is ancient history. He won, that's it.

Please encourage residents to attend CCt flex bus meeting at the South Cobb Library on Tuesday JuneRead More 18t 6pm-8pm. The first meeting only had 11 residents there and none were bus riders. I have encouraged residents that have teens to attend meeting because this help our teens get to jobs or social activities and not just hang out in the neighborhood. We must also plan for the future and underswtrand that just because you are driving today, it may not be the case all the time. Your situation can change with a blink of an eye.
