Obits: James McCabe and George Champion

Obituaries for people who lived in or were from South Cobb

James McCabe, age 80 of Austell, passed away Oct.31. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and later retired from the Army. Then in 1991, after 21 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Air Force as CMSGT. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy. He is survived by his children, Michael Patrick McCabe, Daniel Timothy McCabe, Lance James McCabe, Lori Carol Busick, Karen Joyce McCabe, Patricia Jo McCabe, Kathleen Heather Green and numerous grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m.

George James Champion, age 86 of Mableton, died Oct. 9. He was born on Jan. 14, 1925. He is preceded in death by his parents; Vernie Columbus Champion and Della Swaney; his beloved wife, Sarah Frances Darnell Champion; brothers, David Champion, Floyd Champion; sister, Bessie McDougauld. Survivors include: sister, Lilly Mae Pendley of Jasper, GA, Beatrice Champion of Rome, GA, sister-in-law Kathleen Delay of Mableton; nephews and nieces.Β  He was a resident of Mableton for 55 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Champion proudly served his Country in WWII in the Navy. He will be greatly missed.
