Joseph Marion Dobbins Jr., age 91 of Austell, died Saturday, Sept. 17. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S.Navy. He retired from Anderson Motor Company in Marietta after 30 years. He was a member of Olive Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Emalene Johnson Dobbins. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Kay Dobbins of Dallas, TX and Steve and Deb Dobbins of Big Canoe, GA; granddaughter and husband, Lea Dobbins Singer and Jeff of Dallas, TX and great-grandchildren, Drew and Beth Singer. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Davis-Struempf Chapel, with Dr. Marion Beaver officiating. Interment was in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, GA.

James "Jimmy" Homer Howard Jr., age 58, of Austell passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14. He was born on June 14, 1953 in Atlanta, to James and Helen Howard. After high school, he worked as a self-employed electrician. He married Candy Hafner and had four beautiful children, William, Jeremy, Jennifer, and Alisa. Jimmy had been an Austell resident for most all of his life and has many friends and family members that will miss him. He was preceded in death by his father, James Homer Howard, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Candice Hafner Howard; children, William Howard of Gwinnett County, Jeremy Howard and wife Joli of Flowery Branch, GA, Jennifer Howard of Tappahannock, VA, and Alisa and husband Matt Barnes of Hiram, GA; two sisters, Linda and husband William Hendleman of Dallas, GA and Mary Agnes and husband John Wilson of Snellville, GA; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held Friday at Mozley Memorial Gardens with Prescott Benson officiating.

Mabel Christine Naylor, age 78 of Austell, died Monday Sept. 19 at Gwinnett Medical Center. She was born on June, 6, 1933 in Moulton, AL to the late Travis Lipscomb and Elizabeth Horton. She was an Austell resident for more than 30 years. She worked for Avon in quality control for 30 years. Her husband, Garland David Naylor, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Johnnie Ann Austin of Washington, GA, Vickie Spence of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Jerry Lynn Naylor of Dacula GA; sisters, Hazel Norton and Nadine Cole of Moulton, AL, Eveleen Teague of Decatur, AL, Helen Terry of Courtland, AL; brother, Ferrell Lipscomb of Decatur, AL, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Louise Nix McDonald, age 91 of Mableton, passed away Monday, Sept. 19. Born on May 1, 1920 in Buford, GA to Annie and Horace Nix, she retired from U.S. Social Security Office after 20 years of service. She was a member of Mableton First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas McDonald Sr. Her survivors include her sons, Charles T. McDonald Jr. of Fayetteville, GA, David N. McDonald of Hiram, GA; sister, Mary Grace Wages of Buford, GA; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren.Β  The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at White Columns Funeral Chapel followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Georgia Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Mableton building fund.
