Obits: Allore and Markman Pass Away

Obituaries of people who were from or lived in South Cobb.

Carole Georgi Allore, 80 of Austell, passed away Thursday, April 12. She grew up in the Birmingham neighborhood of Toledo, OH and was a member of Calvin United Church of Christ. She graduated from Western Reserve College, and was a teacher for over 40 years.

Her parents, Frank and Margaret Georgi, and sister, Fran Hanthorn have passed, but she is survived by her daughter, Heather Allore; her brother, Frank(Barbara) Georgi and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services were held Saturday at the Lakeview Room at with Rev. Debbie Wells officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 1957 Lakeside Pkwy, Suite 500, Tucker, GA 30084.

Mikhail Markman, age 61 of Mableton, died March 20.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Markman; children, Irene Geisner of Seattle, WA, Olga Miller of Marietta; sister, Vera Evenson of Michigan; grandchildren, Mikayla, Zachary, Spencer, Leah and Kaj.

Mikhail was born in Minsk, Belarus and came to the United States in 1979. He was living in Rochester, NY, when he became a U.S. Citizen. In 1993, he moved to the Atlanta area. He was a lifetime musician. He wrote a song about Rochester, NY that is now used by the University of Rochester. With his friend, Frank Teremy, he wrote the song "USA" after 9/11 and the song was presented to then Gov. Sonny Perdue. He was an honorary member and then a member of Vinnings Rotary Club. A scholarship was established in his name and is called the Service Above Self Scholarship.

A memorial service was held Thursday at The Vinings Club.
