Margie Foss, age 93 of Mableton, passed away April 30. She was a member of . She was a homemaker who loved gardening, painting, and cooking.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ted Foss and son, Ed Foss. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Paul & Berna Foss of Mableton, John & Sharon Foss of Pittsboro, NC, and Peggy Foss of Austell; grandchildren: Eric Foss, Amanda Foss and Wendy Foss; and special friend, Tiffany Read of Smyrna.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 2, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are with in Austell.

Curtis Ash, age 80 of Austell, passed away April 27. He graduated from Clark College, now known as Clark Atlanta University. He earned his double Master's degree in Mathematics. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army, and he retired from the Navy as a Naval Scientist. He was a member of Elijah United Methodist church in Poolesville, MD, where he served as lay minister as well as numerous other positions in the church.

 He was preceded in death by his son, Antwon Adrien Ash and brother, Eugene Ash. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Emily Williams Ash; daughter & son-in-law, Kathea Ash-Green & Warren Green of Austell; son, Curwin Ash of New York City; grandchildren, Antwon Adrien Barchers-Ash, Kaalex Kathea Ash-Green, and Alexander Curtis Ash-Green.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (821 S. Gordon Rd, Austell) on Thursday, May 3 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey O’Neal and Rev. A.C. O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, from 1 until 2 p.m. Final interment will be in Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Poolesville, MD. Arrangements are with in Austell.

Carolyn Sutton Owens, age 75 of Mableton, passed away Friday, April 27. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Owens and daughter, Denise Owens Rakestraw. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Donna & Jim Roberts of Cumming and Debbie & Barry Pratt of McDonough; grandchildren, Amanda Taylor, Kali LeRoy, Brandi Pratt, Haley Rakestraw, Chad Rakestraw, Kevin Pratt, Krystle Pratt, and Jeremy Rakestraw; great-grandchildren, Cole LeRoy, Jaiden LeRoy, Lance Taylor and several other family members.

The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday. Funeral service was held at on Monday, April 30, with Rev. Bill Rorie officiating. Interment was held at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory, Austell.

Robert Dean “Denny” Alford, age 48 of Mableton, passed away April 27. He was a member of East-West Church. He loved bowling and won many bowling tournaments. He enjoyed fishing and cooking out. He was an all around athlete who excelled at all that he did. He was involved with baseball throughout his life, playing All-Star baseball with the Mableton Tigers and coaching little league for six years. He loved his dog, Jessie and his family.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra Alford of Mableton; siblings, Michael & Marisa Evans of Rockmart, Renee & Rick Couch of Austell, Donna & Rip Rowley of Carrollton, Shannon & Ron Mabry of Austell, and Kim Alford of Marietta; nieces & nephews: Sherry Evans, Chip Edwards, Chad & Blake Couch, Christy Shuler, Brencie Pittmon, Preston & Brandon Mabry, and Zach Ayers; and 10 great-nieces & great-nephews.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday and on Monday. The funeral services honoring his life were held at the on Tuesday, May 1, with Pastor Mike Cronin officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory in Austell.
