Leon Moore of Mableton Dies at 86

Moore served in the Navy and was a longtime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Austell.

Leon Moore, age 86 of Mableton, passed away on Monday, July 16 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

Leon was born to William Wilson Moore and Cleo Bell Moon Moore on May 30, 1926 in Decatur, GA. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was also a beloved member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Austell.

Leon was a motivated individual and had been very successful in several businesses. He had served as head of the electrical department for Six Flags from 1965-1986. Leon was the owner and operator of South Cobb Electronics for 10 years and had started LDKN Service Consultants which he ran for over 20 years.

Leon Moore is preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Columbia Starr Moore in 2000; his daughter, Nancy Catherine Moore Barfield in 2005; and his son, Robert Clifton "Bobby" Moore in 2007. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Shelnutt Moore, his two sons, Danny C. Moor of Mableton and John Kennedy "Kenney" Moore of Austell; 11 grandchildren, Amy, Carrie, Rachel, Matthew, Pam, Cheryl, Deborah, Elizabeth, Allen, Scott, and Ashley and 13 great-grandchildren, Emily, J.J., Charlie, Cassie, Riley, Ethan, Max, Carson, Jacob, Clara, Sarah, Nancy, and Timothy.

The family of Leon Moore will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 20 at White Columns Funeral Chapel in Mableton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.m Saturday, July 21 in the funeral home's chapel with Rev. Michael Crawford and Dr. Ernest Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton. Condolences may be made at www.genedavisfuneralhome.com.
