David Lee Woods, 81, Dies

David Lee Woods, age 81, of Mableton passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Kennestone Wellstar Hospital in Marietta.

An Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict, he retired from Georgia Power/Southern Company in 1989 after 34 years of service. He had served as Past President of Southern Company Ambassadors, was a member of Gideon International, and a member of the First Christian Church of Mableton. He enjoyed teaching Bible Studies for Cobb Street Ministries.

Survivors include wife, Geneva Thomason Woods; daughter, Julie and her husband Charles Byers of Mableton and Linda Marie McDaniel of Phoenix City, AL; granddaughter, Morgan Byers; brothers, Melvin Woods of Big Rapids, MI and Ted Woods of Lansing, MI; sisters, Dora Lewis of Lansing, MI, Alma Myers of Grand Rapids, MI, and Maxine and her husband William Hoffman of Mason, MI; sister in law, Beatrice Thomason of Elberton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 4:00pm-6:00pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 and 12:00pm-2:00pm Sunday, November 25, 2012. Funeral Services at 2:00pm Sunday, November 25, 2012 at White Columns Funeral Chapel in Mableton with Preacher Richard Vartenesian officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens.
