Curtis Gerome Mitchell Jr., 74, Dies

Curtis Gerome Mitchell Jr. of Mableton, age 74, passed away early in the morning on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born to Curtis Gerome Mitchell Sr. and Edna Thompson Mitchell on March 29, 1939 in Fort Payne, Alabama.

A Mableton resident since 1966, Mr. Mitchell was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church of Mableton.  He retired from Sears after 40 years of dedicated service as a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Madeline "Paulete" New Mitchell of Mableton; two sons, Dennis Mitchell and his wife Ann of Dacula and Jeff Mitchell and his wife Antonette of Lithia Springs; four grandchildren, Zachary Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Victoria Mitchell of Charlotte, North Carolina, Aaron Mitchell of Dacula, and Eli Mitchell of Dacula; brothers, Deward Mitchell of Fort Payne, Alabama, Wilbran Mitchell of Fort Payne, Alabama, and Ralph Mitchell of Scottsboro, Alabama; sisters, Dorris Fuller of Collinsville, Alabama, Ruby Mitchell of Collinsville, Alabama, and Carrie Mae Cooper of Fort Payne, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at White Columns Funeral Chapel in Mableton.  Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 in the funeral home's chapel with Rev. John Spangler and Rev. Edwin Gonzalez-Gertz officiating.  Cremation will follow.
