NW Metro Atlanta Habitat Veterans Build Receives Donation!
Call2Recycle® partners with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity to help build a house for a disabled veteran!
Excitement is building at the Ivey House as NW Metro Atlanta Habitat’s first Veterans Build is nearing completion! Thursday, September 13 was the second build day sponsored by Call2Recycle®, the only free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program in North America. The Call2Recycle® volunteers arrived onsite Thursday morning with an enthusiastic attitude and a generous check. Joined by his group of volunteers and the homeowners, Donny Rolader, Vice President of Account Management for C2R, presented a check for $15,000 to Camille Cordak, Habitat’s director of development.
Call2Recycle® is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing environmental waste from batteries; by partnering with Habitat they are taking a stand against substandard housing as well. Progress made on the house Thursday, September 6 and 13 included soffit and fascia installation and complete landscaping. The landscaping day required volunteers from Call2Recycle® and other Habitat volunteers to complete the job.
The Ivey House is made possible, in part, by a donation of land from the late Col. Ashley Ivey, who specified that the lot be used to build a home for a disabled veteran. NW Metro Atlanta Habitat is taking his wish one step further and intends to build a home for a veteran each year.

According to the GA Department of Community Affairs, there are 21,000 homeless people on any given night in Georgia. The number of families living in substandard housing is estimated to be twice as many. Thanks to support from sponsors and volunteers, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat is able to continue its mission of ending substandard housing by partnering with families in need to provide decent, affordable housing.
