Michael Owens Announces Candidacy for 13th Congressional District Seat

Atlanta, GA,March 10, 2014 – Dr. Michael Owens, business leader, decorated Marines veteran and education advocate, formally declared his candidacy to represent the 13th District in the U.S. Congress.

 

Owens described the 13th district as a “diverse group of smart, hard-working people who deserve the kind of leadership and representation that will make a lasting change.”

He currently serves the community by helping to improve the lives of military families and veterans. He also works with children and young adults to help them achieve their education and career goals. His experiences as an engineer, business and community leader have equipped him as an efficient problem-solver and innovator.

“I joined the United States Marine Corps because I wanted to defend and protect our country” Owens said. “I now want to do the same thing for the 13th district as its representative to Congress.” As a war veteran, he explained “I understand what it means to give unwavering support and dedication to things that matter most and I know how to get things accomplished.”

 

Owens is also running to help improve the quality of education in his district. “My children are attending local public schools, where one out of every two children will not graduate.” he said.  It’s time to make a stand.” Owens will work towards the 13th district and our country becoming “the leaders in education, job performance and technological advancements.” 

 

“I have deep connections to this district,” Owens pointed out. He expressed to the citizens of the 13th district, “I want to carry your voice to Washington.” His campaign is focused on “creating real change in our government, better educational opportunities and promising jobs for veterans and future generations.”

 

Owens, 39, is the father of 5 children and currently resides in Cobb County.
